    Release 5.0 of Gramene April 29, 2002, with updates of the Sequence and Protein databases

The Rice Sequence database now contains 1780 Phase 2 or 3 Clones from Genbank, with 8160 annotated Genes (7957 of these have a corresponding protein in the protein database)

• New Tracks in the Genome Browser
  New alignments added for TIGR O.Sativa and Maize Gene Indices, BGI indica ESTs and Clusters, Rice complete coding sequences, and Dupont Maize Unigene clusters.
• Updated Sequence Alignments in Genome Browser
  Updated Rice BACends, SSRs, Markers, and dbEST alignments for Rice, Wheat, Barley, Maize, and Sorghum.

The Rice Protein database now contains 8985 Proteins (6912 of these have at least one corresponding Gene in the sequence database)

• Updates and added features (Transmembrane and Prosite predictions)
• Transmembrane region prediction on rice proteins, Release 1.0 (File available HERE)
• Chloroplast or mitochondrial localization prediction on rice proteins, Release 1.0 (File available HERE)
