I. Approval of rules for gene symbolizatiion

The proposal of the rules published in Rice Genetic Newsletter Vol. 3, p. 4-5, was formally approved by the Coordinating Committee of the Rice Genetics Cooperative held at IRRI on Oct. 22-23, 1987.

I hope that the new gene symbols in rice are appropriately designated by the rule. The new symbols are reported by the author to the convenor of the Committee for examination before publication.
